“Just as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past over and over again.”
— Gautama Buddha (attributed)
In Buddhism, the concept of transformation is deeply valued. Like a snake shedding its skin, people are invited to let go of attachments, regrets, and past actions that no longer serve their spiritual growth. This idea mirrors, in a profound way, the Christian message of Easter—the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. In Christian tradition, Easter is not only about the miracle of rising from the grave, but also about the power of renewal, forgiveness, and hope even after pain, betrayal, and loss.
For people of all faiths—or even no formal faith—the Easter story can speak to something universal. We all experience times of suffering, endings, and uncertainty. But the resurrection invites us to believe in the possibility of new beginnings. Whether we call it rebirth, awakening, or transformation, this moment in the Christian calendar can encourage all of us to reflect on what needs to “die” in our own lives—old habits, toxic thinking, fear—and what new life we want to create going forward. Easter becomes not just a religious celebration, but a human invitation to begin again with courage, compassion, and purpose.
Today, I welcome renewal. I release what no longer serves me and embrace the possibility of transformation. I walk forward with hope and open-hearted faith.
