Day 107 of 1461

📖 Verse of the Day

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.”

Christian Tradition – Matthew 7:15–16 (NRSV)

✹ Significance

Jesus warned of those who would use His name for corrupt ends—those who wear the mask of holiness but enact harm, manipulation, and destruction. Today, we see this warning echo through our culture as political leaders invoke the name of Christ while tearing down the very freedoms that allow spiritual life, creativity, and independent thought to thrive.

Under the guise of patriotism and righteousness, crucial institutions are being weakened—education, healthcare, journalism, the arts. Even now, our movie and entertainment industry—a pillar of expression, innovation, and cultural freedom—is under attack. Massive tariffs and economic sabotage are not random missteps; they are deliberate moves in a playbook that authoritarians have followed for centuries: control the narrative, silence dissent, and eliminate platforms for free thought.

And yet, many who support these measures do so with unwavering conviction, convinced they are doing God’s will. Others see the danger but remain paralyzed, waiting for rescue or resolution. But the truth, as Jesus taught, is revealed by what actions produce. What “fruit” is being borne by these policies? Is it justice, compassion, and liberty—or fear, suppression, and division?

This is not just a Christian concern.

  • In Islam, the Qur’an warns in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:11–12: “And when it is said to them, ‘Do not cause corruption on the earth,’ they say, ‘We are only reformers.’ Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive it not.”
  • In Judaism, the prophet Micah wrote: “He has shown you what is good… to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
  • In Buddhism, the Dhammapada says: “An evil deed, like milk, does not turn sour at once… it follows the fool, burning like fire covered by ashes.”

The threat we face is not just political—it is spiritual. When religion is used as a tool for tyranny, it must be named and resisted with love, clarity, and courage. We must not sleep through the storm. The time to speak is now.
