Day 114 of 1461

🌿 Verse of the Day

“Speak only that which is true, spoken gently, and spoken at the right time, with a mind of goodwill.”

— The Buddha, from the Sutta Pitaka (Anguttara Nikaya 5.198)

✨ Significance
In Buddhist teaching, Right Speech is part of the Noble Eightfold Path—a guide for ethical living. It encourages us to speak truthfully, helpfully, and kindly. When we ask others for help, our words should reflect honesty and goodwill. Manipulation, flattery, or dishonesty—even subtle—undermine relationships and block real support.

This principle is echoed in Christianity, where Jesus said: “Let your yes be yes, and your no be no” (Matthew 5:37), urging clarity and sincerity. Proverbs 24:26 tells us, “An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips”—a sign of trust and closeness. In Islam, Surah Al-Baqarah 2:42 warns against blending truth with falsehood. In Native American tradition, truth is sacred—it preserves balance and earns respect.

No matter the path, integrity is essential. If we want others to help us, we must meet them with truth, respect, and a willingness to cooperate. Sincerity opens doors. Games close them.

🙏 Affirmation / Prayer
Today I speak with honesty and goodwill. I ask for help without hiding my true needs or trying to control the response. I release manipulation, pride, and pretense. May my words build trust and bring peace to all my relationships.
