Day 85 of 1461

Verse

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”
— Matthew 5:9 (NRSV)

Significance

The teaching “Blessed are the peacemakers” speaks to a universal truth found in many faiths: those who build peace are doing sacred work. Whether it’s in the Christian tradition, where peacemakers are called children of God, or in other belief systems that honor justice, compassion, and reconciliation, the message is clear—peace is a holy responsibility.

The recent arson at the Pennsylvania Governor’s mansion is a deeply troubling event, not only as an act of political violence but possibly as a targeted act of antisemitism. This is unacceptable in any society. Attacks against political leaders or individuals based on their faith erode the very foundations of democracy and spiritual coexistence. Across faiths, we are called to stand against hate in all its forms. Choosing peace means rejecting the cycle of fear and violence, and instead building bridges through courage, dialogue, and love. Now is the time for people of all beliefs to rise together in solidarity—for justice, for safety, and for sacred human dignity.

Affirmation

Today, I walk as a peacemaker. I reject hate in all its forms, and I lift up every life as sacred, regardless of faith or politics. I am a child of God, called to build peace.
